Mens Medal Results
Sunday's Men's medal attracted a field of 53 players all vying to progress in our club qualifying round of the county medal. The winners of the combined handicap categories 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 will progress forward to represent Naunton Downs in the regional final at Minchinhampton on Thursday 2nd July. This will also give them a further opportunity of progressing even further to the grand final being played at Frilford Heath in August and representing Gloucestershire in the National Final.
So, it is congratulations to both Jeremy Hawkins and Malcolm Sainsbury who qualified by winning their respective handicap divisions. Jeremy with a score of gross 79 - 11 handicap = nett 68 and Malcolm with a gross 88 - 19 handicap = nett 69.

Hole In One
Congratulations to member, Dr Tim Healy who had a spectacular hole in one on the par 4, 5th hole last Wednesday…an albatross!! Well done Tim.
A Team Report
The training was over and the team were ready for the first game of the season against Brickhampton at home. A full strength side took on a team relegated from Division 2 with the format being reverted to foursomes for this year.
Top pairing, Dave Potter and Neil Hardie used all of their experience against a good young pairing. Dormie 2 down Neil warmed his putter up with a birdie on 17 then with another solid putt on 18 the match was halved.
Mike Stradling and Darren Skeet won the first hole and were then never behind on a tricky day with frim, fast greens and a stiff breeze. They ran out winners on the 14th.
Simon Mills and Dave Sellwood again won the 1st hole. Judging the wind and club selection proved very problematic for Simon leaving Dave in difficult positions on the 6th and 15th. With steady rather than spectacular golf winning the match 3&2.
One more point from 3 matches would seal the win and next match up was Dave Bentley and Dave Iles and they did it with a very solid display, again never being behind.
Brickhampton had tactically loaded their last two pairings with low handicappers giving them a solid finish and they beat the final 2 pairings of Peter Green and Iain Wilkie. Matt Ginley and Ritchie Spate ran out of steam over the final furlong to loose narrowly 2 down.
This was a great result for all the team and proved we have a very solid team to build on over the coming months.
